Safeguarding
Last updated: 2026
JOMJENS Mental Health Care Service is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of everyone who uses our service. We recognise our responsibility to take all reasonable steps to protect adults at risk and young people from harm, abuse and neglect.
Our commitment
- We treat the safety and wellbeing of the people in our care as our highest priority.
- All clinicians work within professional codes of conduct and relevant safeguarding legislation, including the Care Act 2014.
- Staff receive safeguarding training appropriate to their role and know how to recognise and respond to concerns.
- We work in partnership with local authorities, doctors and other services where it is necessary to keep someone safe.
Recognising a safeguarding concern
A safeguarding concern may arise where someone is experiencing, or is at risk of, abuse or neglect including physical, emotional, financial or sexual abuse, self-neglect, or risk of harm to themselves or others. You do not need to be certain to raise a concern.
How we respond
If a concern is identified, we act promptly and proportionately. We will listen, record the concern accurately, and where appropriate and in line with our duty of care share information with the relevant safeguarding authorities. Wherever possible we do this with the person's knowledge and consent, unless doing so would increase the risk of harm.
Raising a concern with us
If you are worried about your own safety or the safety of someone else in connection with our service, please contact us on 09114839336 or at info@jomjens.com and ask to speak to our designated safeguarding lead.
If someone is in immediate danger
If a child or adult is in immediate danger, or a crime is taking place, call your local emergency number without delay: 999 in the UK, 911 in the US or 112in Nigeria. In the UK, you can report a non-emergency safeguarding concern to the adult or children's safeguarding team at your local council.
