Panic Disorder

Panic disorder involves recurrent, unexpected panic attacks sudden surges of intense fear with strong physical symptoms followed by ongoing worry about having more. The fear of attacks can become as limiting as the attacks themselves.

Signs you might notice

Everyone's experience is different, but common signs include:

  • Sudden, intense surges of fear or dread
  • Racing heart, chest tightness or shortness of breath
  • Dizziness, shaking or tingling
  • Fear of losing control or that something terrible will happen
  • Persistent worry about further attacks
  • Avoiding places where attacks have happened
