Brief Intervention
Brief Intervention is a short-term, focused approach designed to assist individuals in initiating change and addressing identified risk factors or unhealthy behaviours. This may include poor lifestyle choices, risk behaviours, or emerging mental health difficulties.
The service provides patients with information, practical strategies and signposting to appropriate support to enable positive change. Intervention is typically delivered over 3–8 sessions, depending on clinical need.
Aims of Brief Intervention
- Reduce identified risks
- Stabilise mental state where possible
- Enable patients to engage in further therapeutic interventions if required
- Provide medication monitoring where appropriate
- Offer an initial structured period of assessment
- Offer advice on stepping up or down to appropriate therapy as deemed fit
Supporting people with chronic or severe mental illness
We support individuals with chronic or severe mental illness who do not require inpatient care and can be managed at home with family and relative support. Teenage patients must be accompanied by a referring relative or carer.
Make a ReferralMeet the team behind your care
Your support is delivered by an experienced, multidisciplinary team of mental health practitioners, non-medical prescribers, psychiatric advisory support if deemed necessary, and social therapists working together to address your individual needs.
